Hiya Vitamins: Read This Before You Try

Hiya Vitamins: Read This Before You Try

Posted by Hello Postpartum on

If you’re curious about Hiya vitamins for the older kids in your home, this review covers everything you’re looking for (and some things you might not have considered).

When I learned I was pregnant, I became obsessed with researching the “best” of everything. The best strollers, onesies, diaper pails, baby bottles, you name it.

Once my baby entered the toddler phase and started eating three solid meals a day, as a certified holistic health coach, I prioritized trying (that’s the keyword here) to feed him a well-rounded diet filled with nutrients, exposing him to a variety of whole foods, fruits, vegetables, healthy fats, and more.

It stuck for a while, and I felt like I had this whole “healthy eating toddler” thing figured out. Well, he turned two and started disliking almost everything I put on his plate. Does anyone else out there have picky eaters?

At this same time, our pediatrician recommended starting him on a kid-friendly multivitamin to help him get essential vitamins in his routine, and I wasn’t sure where to start.

One day, I found Hiya daily vitamins after a friend (and fellow contributor to our website!) recommended them. I instantly started researching (it’s my strong suit) and was so pleased with what I read.

Fast forward to today (almost two years later!), and my son asks for his Hiya multivitamin daily. In fact, he’s the one who reminds me that he needs to take it every morning at breakfast. My, how the tables have turned.

For a while, we had an ongoing game where he would get so excited when he’d get a “double pink day!” (his words) and get both a pink probiotic and multivitamin at once. I’ve since emailed customer service, and they were able to customize our packs to be “berry only” going forward.

This still brings him so much excitement daily! It’s the little things, right?

As I briefly mentioned, he also takes the Hiya probiotic (he was a c-section baby, so I’ve been super diligent about his probiotics since birth) and the “nighttime vitamin,” as he calls it. It’s really brought me invaluable peace of mind knowing his nutritional gaps are better supported through Hiya.

Also, I’m not a dietitian, pediatrician, or nutritionist. Your doctor should advise you on your child’s nutritional and wellness needs. What I share in this post is informational so you can make the best choice for your kid.

Are Hiya vitamins any good?

You might wonder if the children’s multivitamins from Hiya are any good or worth the price. I get that! As a busy new mom, I don’t always have time to dedicate to finding the “best” options on the market. You might be feeling that way, too. Hopefully, this review will help lend some peace of mind.

That’s why this review goes in-depth on what you need to know about Hiya’s vitamins to make the most informed choice for your little one.

Let’s be honest: the learning, education, and research start the moment you find out you’re pregnant, and it never really ends. Case in point!

Nutrients you’ll find

According to the official website, inside each nutrient-packed chewable tablet, you’ll find a range of vitamins and minerals  (15 to be exact) and an organic fruits and vegetable blend from sources like blueberries, carrots, kale, raspberries, and more.

Here’s a chart of what you’ll find inside, including the amount per serving and the % daily value of each for children 2-3 years old.

I loved seeing the addition of selenium, a trace mineral important for a child’s growth and development (and it helps boost a child’s immune system, too!).

Also, I love to see that most of the vitamins and minerals meet or exceed the recommended daily value so you can rest easy knowing that your kid is getting what they need to fill in any nutritional gaps in their diet.

Ingredients inside

We’ve talked about what’s inside Hiya’s multivitamin, but let’s talk about what’s not inside. Hiya’s vitamins are  free from gluten, artificial coloring and flavoring, dairy, sugar, and artificial sweeteners.  Plus, because they’re not gummy or gelatin-based (no gummy junk inside!), they’re vegan-friendly, too.

Unlike most children’s multivitamins on the market, this one does not contain added sugar. Seriously, the nutrition label reads 0g of sugar. This is a win for tooth decay and ensuring kids aren’t getting too much sugar in their diets.

Instead, these chewable vitamins are lightly sweetened with mannitol (naturally occurring in pineapples, sweet potatoes, carrots, and more) and monk fruit extract (a natural sweetener).

Lastly, all of the ingredients are non-GMO , meaning they’re made from ingredients that aren’t genetically modified (here’s why that’s important).

Quality testing

Another point that sets Hiya apart from other children’s multivitamins on the market is the testing and manufacturing process.

  • USA-based manufacturing in a cGMP-compliant facility (meaning the manufacturer meets the standards and regulations enforced by the FDA).

  • Third-party tested for trace amounts of heavy minerals, allergens, and pathogens.

Benefits of using Hiya

If you’re still not convinced to give Hiya a try for your child, consider some of the benefits of using their multivitamin.

  •  Tablet vs. gummy: Often made from pork and filler ingredients, gummy vitamins pack an unnecessary amount of sugar and can get stuck in your kid’s teeth, contributing to the formation of cavities.

  •  Physical benefits: This includes immunity support, energy and cell growth, growth and development, cognitive function, inflammation support, and more.

  •  Sustainable packaging: You’ll receive a refillable glass jar with your initial order (which includes stickers!), and in the following months, you’ll receive a refill pouch to help cut back on plastic waste.

Hiya vs. Other Kid’s Multivitamins

Curious how Hiya stacks up to other kid’s multivitamins on the market? So was I. Check out what I found in this handy chart.

Hiya vs. other popular children’s multivitamins

From this chart, we can see that most kid’s multivitamins on the market have added sugar or are in the gummy form (which often contains gelatin, a pork or bovine by-product).

Speaking of gummies, gummy candies are recognized as choking hazards in young children by the CDC, which was all the more reason for me to opt for Hiya’s chewable tablet that quickly breaks down in the mouth with minimal chewing.

When can my kid start taking Hiya vitamins?

Your child can start using Hiya’s vitamins at the age of two, but make sure to chat with your pediatrician before making any decisions on their readiness.

Tips to get the most of your Hiya subscription

If you’re ready to get started with Hiya, here are some helpful tips I’ve learned in the 1.5 years of using these vitamins with my son (and now my daughter!).

Save 50% on your first month

Just by reading this Hiya vitamins review, you can receive 50% off your first month of Hiya, bringing the cost for the reusable bottle and 30-day supply to just $15. Hiya operates off an easy subscription model, so you can have the freshest and best vitamins for your kids’ health at your doorstep.

“Customize” your order

If you find that your kid prefers one flavor tablet over the other, you can simply email customer service and ask them to  update your future orders  to include that color only.

My son is stoked to receive only the “pink” ones each month, making it that much easier for him to take his vitamins each day. Who knew a simple request could bring so much joy?

Bundle and save

If you have other kids, two and up, at home, you can save money on your monthly order. For example, if you’re ordering for two kids each month, the 30-day supply drops down to $28/kid (vs. $30).

Try Hiya today.
