About

As a perinatal consultant, Emily supports mothers with the transition of motherhood/parenthood through education meetings 1:1 or in small groups on the social constructs of motherhood. She helps clients to define what being a “good mother” means for them and what it can look like.

She also supports parents in connecting with their infants to establish quality relationship habits and connections.

Emily’s own experience with postpartum depression and anxiety after the birth of her second daughter, which is the subject of her book Unexpected: A Postpartum Memoir (Demeter Press, 2023), gives her consultation another dimension of experience with challenging times in the postpartum period.

Emily is a Latina mother of two, an author, and a perinatal advocate and consultant. She is a trained pediatric speech-language pathologist with a graduate certificate in infant-toddler mental health and is a Motherhood Studies Practitioner after studying with sociologist Dr. Sophie Brock.
