Best Postpartum Holiday Dresses: Find the Perfect One

rack of holiday dresses

Like you, I am also newly postpartum, and I have made finding these dresses my mission for the holiday season! Shop my picks for everybody and budget.

While there are hundreds of websites, all promising the best new products in women’s fashion and the perfect dress for our postpartum journeys and holiday parties, not all of them can deliver on that promise!

Quick shop postpartum holiday dresses:

I laughed as I typed that line because some of the dresses looked like potato bags sitting on my body.

For me, I want a postpartum party dress that is going to make me feel beautiful, trendy, and comfortable.

Between no sleep and adjusting to my new life at home with a newborn, I have zero interest in being uncomfortable in my outfit. After all, the right postpartum clothes will make you feel empowered and confident.

Thankfully, after lots of searching, I’ve found some incredibly flattering, comfortable, and approachable dresses for this holiday season that will not only fit your postpartum body but celebrate it.

And yes, you’ll still be comfortable postpartum while wearing them. The best part? Many of the dresses shared below could double as a dress for maternity shoots, date night (pair with a leather jacket!), and more.

Where to buy flattering postpartum dresses

Ready for some postpartum holiday fashion tips? After shopping endlessly, my top favorite brands for postpartum dresses (especially during the holidays) are:

Keep in mind that many of these brands run holiday promotions, so make sure to check their websites weekly for any special deals happening.

Also, if you don’t want to commit to a holiday dress shortly after birth, renting a dress (like from Rent the Runway) is absolutely an option! Sometimes rental companies have the perfect pieces that you can send back when you’re finished!

What to look for in holiday dresses after birth

  • Rouching around the wist
  • A-line, empire waist, wrap necklines
  • Soft and breathable fabric
  • Don’t be afraid to go up a size or two

Personally, I look for dresses with mild rouching around the waist area that tend to run half a size larger than normal (bonus points!). I don’t know about you, but my postpartum body seems different every day, and I love having a dress that can move and adjust with me.

Also, the most flattering dress styles are A-line, empire waistline, and wrap necklines (hello, easy breastfeeding access!).

Fabric-wise, it’s ideal to choose something that is soft and breathable (and yes, stretchy!) to give with your body as move. Find your absolute favorite body and style, and you’ll be able to wear this dress for a long time.

My favorite little holiday dress trick? Look for dresses that aren’t labeled “nursing” or “maternity clothes.” There is so much fun fashion right now; I’ve found that if I order one or two sizes up, I can wear just about any dress I want.

It’s all about embracing your “new body” and embracing your post-pregnancy figure.

My picks for postpartum holiday dresses

1. PinkBlush Black Chiffon Long Sleeve Wrap Dress

This double-lined chiffon maxi dress is maternity, postpartum, and breastfeeding-friendly. It’s absolutely stunning, so classic, and can be worn well beyond the postpartum period.

2. Seraphine Cream Ribbed Nursing Dress

Super chic in ivory, this turtle-neck style dress is a beautiful addition to your winter wardrobe for this season’s holidays. The liftable top offers quick and convenient breastfeeding and pumping access.

3. Tuckernuck Red Crepe Kenzo Mini Dress

A bestseller, the red crepe mini dress from Tuckernuck features a flattering neckline, smocked cuffs, and the perfect vibrant holiday red. The best part? No uncomfortable waistline in sight.

4. Chelsea28 Faux Wrap Velvet Midi Dress

Chic and classic, this faux wrap dress hits mid-calf with a 3/4 sleeve in a gorgeous velvet fabric. The rouching along the front is especially flattering after birth. I really think this dress is so elegant and timeless.

Not into black? It also comes in a stunning emerald purple.

5. Dress the Population Plunge Crepe Trumpet Gown

A sweeping trumpet skirt paired with a high-leg slit and dipping neckline, this trumpet-style gown is for the new mom who is ready to reclaim her sexiness.

The crepe fabric features 3% spandex, so it’s stretchy in all the right places. It’s also machine washable (hello, milk stains).
